our

Mission

We invite individuals to leave the traditional therapy office to experience recovery and growth by working with a team of sled dogs, psychotherapists, and professional wilderness and yoga guides in awe-inspiring landscapes.

our

Vision

Emotional healing begins in the physical body.
Working with sled dogs has the potential for powerful inner healing work with life-changing outcomes: Going on a journey with a team of sled dogs can help develop an internal sense of calm, confidence, and control. Healing Journeys aims to teach clients how to take these empowering skills they learn on the sled and apply them to their daily lives.

our

values

We emphasize the importance of personal growth, self-discovery, and the development of essential life skills. Our program instills values such as teamwork, resilience, and compassion, nurturing an environment where individual healing fosters collective well-being. By empowering clients to overcome challenges and embrace emotional exploration, Healing Journeys cultivates a mindset of serenity and clarity.

UNIQUE APPROACH

What is EMDR therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a method of therapy recognized by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies as an effective treatment for trauma. In EMDR, processing of adverse life experiences and traumas occurs on a physiological level, allowing for the development of new associations, insights, and emotions.

Taking a trip with Healing Journeys won’t involve reprocessing traumatic memories. Instead, you’ll learn new skills that incorporate EMDR techniques that you can use at any time to self-soothe and ground yourself.

What is Animal-Assisted Therapy?

Animal-assisted therapy is a method of therapy that relies on the intrinsic bond between humans and animals to create an environment that fosters therapeutic dialogue, emotional growth, and behavioral changes.

Working with sled dogs can help you recognize, process, and express your emotions in an environment free from judgment and criticism. As you learn to mush, the bonds that you’ll form with your team can help you gain trust, build self-worth, and grow your interpersonal skills.

What is Trauma-Conscious Yoga?

Trauma-conscious yoga is a way of practicing that recognizes and honors that everyone arrives to the mat with different lived experiences. Every pose is an invitation. Yoga provides the opportunity to notice what is happening in the body and mind with each pose, which can translate into a new awareness of the body and mind off the mat.

Throughout your trip, you’ll have several opportunities to participate in this type of yoga practice, whether that be morning yoga to stretch before you head out with your team or to wind down in the evening after dinner.
